Weekly O50 sessions in Newark
O50 sessions run at Equinox in Newark-on-Trent, always at a civilised hour. Groups stay small so everyone gets proper coaching and nobody hides at the back.
The next set of O50 session times is being confirmed. Pop your name down below, or email steve@bpca.co.uk, and I'll be in touch as soon as dates are live.
Why padel is perfect after 50
- A smaller court and doubles play mean kinder work for knees and hips.
- The underarm serve and underhand rallying are easy on shoulders.
- You will be rallying in your first session - padel is famously quick to pick up.
- It is genuinely social: four on court, and tea afterwards is part of the fixture.
- Coached by Steve, a racket coach of 20 years and a registered BPCA padel coach.
From the O50 regulars
"I had not held a racket since school. Steve had me rallying in my second session - and I have not missed a Monday since."
"The O50 is the friendliest hour of my week. We are competitive, but nobody minds losing a point."
"It is proper coaching, not just a knock-about. My knees approve of the pace and my game approves of everything else."
Over 50s padel questions, answered
Do I need any padel experience to join the O50?
None at all. Most of our members had never played padel before joining. Rusty Rackets on a Friday is built exactly for you, and rackets are provided.
Is padel suitable for over 50s?
Padel is one of the kindest racket sports on the joints - a smaller court, an underarm serve, and doubles play means you cover less ground than tennis. We keep the pace gentle and the coaching proper.
Where in Newark-on-Trent do you play?
We play at Equinox Padel Club in Newark-on-Trent. It is a Centre of Excellence with covered courts, ample parking and accessible toilets.
Can I try a session before joining?
Of course. Pop your name down for any session below and your first visit is treated as a taster - come along, meet the crowd, and see how it feels.
